When it comes to matters of the heart, men and women are more similar than we might think, so it’s equally important for both men and women to look after their hearts.


Unfortunately, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) still claims more lives than any other condition in the UK each year, so we all need to take extra special care to keep our hearts healthy - 30% of premature deaths in men and women are from CHD.


Although there is some protection against heart disease in younger women, if you’re post-menopausal, you may find that your cholesterol levels are slightly higher than they used to be and this could have an impact on the health of your heart.


The good news is that for both men and women, CHD unlike many other serious conditions, can be prevented. Simply making small changes to your diet and lifestyle can drastically improve the health of your heart and the quality of your life.
